Most recently, he served as the general manager of the Six South Street hotel in Hanover, NH, a 69 room boutique hotel in the community anchored by Dartmouth College. Tell us about your local ties.
I was born in Rutland and grew up in Bellows Falls. I’m a graduate of Bellows Falls High School. In fact, my 40th reunion is coming up in a few weeks!

How important is returning to your “backyard” to work?
It’s so important. In fact, I applied for this job about 18 years ago. I know the back roads here. I deer hunted in these woods and fished in these streams. I’ve known the Windham Foundation for years and believe what it stands for. The inn is a cornerstone in this community, and after being in the hotel business for so long, being part of an organization that keeps the money in this state to benefit Vermonters is so gratifying.

What are your local ties today?
My two sisters are in Saxtons River and two of my daughters are moving to Grafton with Lisa (wife) and I.

I also recently just learned more about my family’s genealogy and that it goes back seven generations in Vermont. We even had three people come over on the Mayflower.

What were your first impressions of the Inn?
I had only known the public spaces. I recently went through all areas of the inn, and was very impressed at the quality of the rooms and public spaces. There is more potential here than I originally thought.

What will be your first area of focus here?
My initial goal is to get more people to come to stay with us. My strengths are in packaging and marketing and we have an opportunity to introduce even more people to the inn. Our guests need to continue to feel that after a stay with us, that they received an incredible value.

The Grafton Food Festival presented by Northeast Flavor Magazine is a food-lovers event celebrating local food and farms in southern Vermont.

Celebrate our local “taste of place” and sample local food and beverages, enjoy cooking demonstrations, farmers market tables and special dinners at the Grafton Inn.

Festival open daily 10 am – 4 pm.

The first Wednesday of every month, head to Phelps Barn Pub and visit with friends and neighbors for First Wednesday. We have now added local guest speakers to kick off the evening.

From 5 – 6:30 p.m., we offer a Grafton Village Cheese tray and beer and wine specials.

Circus Terrificus is the Women’s Community Club of Grafton’s 2013 effort to raise more funds for its Scholarship fund.

The Circus Terrificus program will be styled in the fashion of the Cirque du Soleil and in fact will feature former aerial artists from the Cirque du Soleil!

The Bellows Falls Opera House is the venue for the Circus with two performances on May 25:

• A 2 p.m. matinee for children under 12 years old, 6 years old and under must be accompanied by than adult.
• A 7:30 p.m. performance for the general public.
• Special VIP tickets for the evening performance will also be sold, whose price will include a pre-circus reception party, priority seating and a meet-the-performers party following the performance.

The Women’s Club is pulling out all stops to create a marvelous circus atmosphere for both children and adults with balloons, healthy food concessions and some circus memorabilia.

This event is open to all!
